Sacha Baron Cohen Unveils Head-Turning Body Transformation for Marvel Role

Sacha Baron Cohen, known for his comedic roles like Borat and Ali G, has shocked fans with a dramatic body transformation, showcasing a muscular physique on the cover of Men’s Fitness UK. The impressive new look is in preparation for his role as the supervillain Mephisto in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a character confirmed by Marvel chief Kevin Feige to be a key figure in upcoming MCU installments.

From Comedian to Marvel Villain: The Physical Transformation

The 52-year-old actor’s physical overhaul has generated significant buzz online, with many expressing surprise at his ripped abs and bulging biceps. Cohen himself jokingly attributed the transformation to a “mid-life crisis” and humorously stated on Instagram, “This is not AI. I really am egotistical enough to do this.” He also quipped, “Some celebs use Ozempic, some use private chefs, others use personal trainers. I did all three.”

The Training Regimen and Trainer

To achieve this “shredded” physique, Cohen enlisted the help of celebrity trainer Alfonso “The Angry Trainer” Moretti. Interestingly, Cohen initially sought a referral from Matthew McConaughey, who then connected him with Moretti. Moretti described Cohen’s initial physical state as “like a ruler, straight up and down” but also detected “an athlete in hiding.”

Despite the impressive results, Cohen’s workout routine was surprisingly time-efficient. He focused on short, intense, and consistent 25-minute workouts, coupled with 100 push-ups a day. Cohen noted that these shorter sessions made it easier to stay consistent, even with a demanding production schedule. His diet consisted of high fiber and protein, with low sugar. The rapid changes were so significant that Marvel’s costume team had to revise his Mephisto outfit multiple times to accommodate his new build.

Mephisto’s Debut and Future in the MCU

Sacha Baron Cohen made his debut as Mephisto in the finale of Disney+’s Ironheart series. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has indicated that fans can expect much more of Mephisto moving forward in the MCU. This role marks a significant shift for Cohen, showcasing his versatility beyond his well-known comedic characters.

The actor’s dedication to the role, both in performance and physical transformation, underscores the growing trend of actors undergoing rigorous training for superhero and villain roles within the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cohen’s transformation, which he also stated was about more than just aesthetics, has certainly set the internet ablaze and built anticipation for his future appearances as the formidable Mephisto.
