The Educated Choices Program (ECP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting informed food choices, has announced the appointment of Scott Shetler as its new Health and Fitness Advisor. Shetler brings a wealth of experience in health and physical education, strength training, and plant-based nutrition to the organization, further bolstering ECP’s mission to empower individuals toward healthier, more sustainable lifestyles.

Scott Shetler’s Extensive Background in Health and Fitness

Scott Shetler is a highly respected figure in the health and fitness industry, with a career spanning over two decades. He holds a degree in Health and Physical Education and is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). His extensive certifications also include being a Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) instructor, a Westside Barbell Special Strengths Coach, and a World Kettlebell Club (WKC) Master Trainer and certified kettlebell lifting coach.

Shetler owns Extreme Performance Training Systems, a private strength training facility in Atlanta, Georgia, where he coaches a diverse range of clients, from competitive athletes across various sports to individuals focused on lifelong health and fitness. His expertise extends to working with Olympic and combat sports athletes.

Author and Expert in Plant-Based Performance

A prolific author, Shetler has penned several books on strength training, health, and fitness, including “Kettlebell Conditioning for MMA and Other Fight Sports” and “Abundant Health: Fitness for the Mind, Body, and Spirit.” He is also the co-author of “Eat Plants, Lift Iron,” a collaboration that aligns with his personal commitment to a vegan lifestyle and animal welfare advocacy. Shetler has been vegan for several years, making the change for ethical reasons after realizing a disconnect between his love for animals and his dietary choices. His “Plant-Based Performance” project donates 100% of book sales to animal welfare organizations.

His insights have been featured in numerous print and online publications, and he has presented at seminars, clinics, and universities. Beyond his coaching and writing, Shetler is also a competitive athlete himself, having competed in powerlifting and kettlebell sport, and currently practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Taijiquan.
